Digidesign 003R Signature Series Modification Review

"The Signature Series Mod that you guys packed into my 003R is unreal. Such a world of difference. I used to DREAD going from my HD rig to having to use the little 003 box, but now this thing gives my HD converters a run for their money. The mic pres are actually good now, as well! "Let me just simply say first that the 003R signature modification far exceeded my expectations and has truly changed my system into a "multitrack monster", as advertised. I was expecting the clock to sound way better than the internal digidesign one, but I didn't expect it to beat my Apogee Mini Me hands-down. The moment when I was most surprised was when I was able to do a comparison of the analog outs. Wow. The "grayness" and "squareness" of the 003R (I was also an 002R user) was gone, the depth and 3-d image of the D/A is amazing. It didn't take me too long to realize that these converters now sound better than a 192. Finally I compared to A/D against the Mini-Me, and again the 003R Mod killed it. Actually when I was listening to the first Print, I did a double take making sure that I wasn't still monitoring the mixer output, it sounds that good. Thanks so much.
