PG-Series power conditioners at Suburb Studio Berlin

Suburb Studio Berlin chooses Black Lion audio PG-series power products

June 17, 2026

"There are pieces of equipment in a studio that are meant to have a certain sound—and then there are those that simply sit there and quietly do their job."

The latter is what creates that moment when the so-called “voodoo” kicks in…

In my opinion, the Black Lion Audio PG-series belongs to this category of voodoo devices.

Since building my studio in 2020, I have always been looking for equipment and peripherals that not only simplify mixing and recording, but also improve the signal flow and everything associated with it, in order to capture the best possible result for my clients.

Despite my efforts, there were always small issues—especially in the area of power—that could not be properly resolved later on.

As there is not a wide range of options in this area, and during my research I repeatedly came across problems such as hum, my attention turned to the Black Lion Audio PG-series. Because nothing is worse than having a hum in the control room.

After a few very pleasant discussions about this device with Jan Grimm from Audiowerk, I quickly received a demo unit and was able to connect everything and test it thoroughly.

Yes—something happened immediately:

  • The noise floor actually dropped slightly, despite top-quality audio cabling (Mogami/Vovox), star-shaped power distribution, etc.

  • For some reason, my network switch has also become significantly quieter (high-frequency noise is gone)

  • Having an additional protection mechanism alongside the fuses in my electrical panel feels very reassuring

    Pros:

  • Absolutely top-notch build quality

  • Noise filter (my favorite)

  • More than enough connections for all equipment

  • Additional surge protection

  • The noise floor of the analog chain has noticeably decreased

    Cons:

  • there is a connector for a lamp, but the lamp itself must be purchased separately (a pity at this price point.)

Conclusion

Everyone can say what they want, but in the pursuit of those last few percent, I have once again found what I was looking for and was able to further improve the quality of my signal chain!

In addition to the PG-2 type F, I also use the PG-P type F for my side rack—an excellent combination as well!

About Robert and Suburb Studio Berlin

I am Robert “Reatsch” Eydner, founder and owner of Suburb Studio Berlin.

I have been passionate about music for more than two decades and can look back on many great moments in my studio.

In the beginning, I was active as a rapper myself and performed live in addition to studio work. Over time, I started building my own home studio and quickly realized how much joy it brings to support people in realizing their ideas.

By now, I have produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered numerous songs, and I am grateful to have been able to explore a wide range of genres.

I find it fascinating time and again to put a smile on a client’s face and to contribute an important part to their project.
